The event saw the presence of Marc Roman, Transport Councillor for the Belgian State Secretary of Mobility; Zoran Stancic, Deputy Director-General for Information Society, European Commission; Formula 1 test driver Jerome d’Ambrosio; as well as ex-Formula 1 driver Eric van de Poele. Speakers also included Thierry Willemarck, CEO Touring Club Belgium and FIA Vice-President; Ivan Hodac, Vice-President of eSafetyAware and Secretary General of ACEA; and Jacob Bangsgaard, Secretary General of eSafetyAware.
Delegates and media attending the launch also saw live demonstrations of Warning and Emergency Braking (Volvo City Safety) and eCall, demonstrated by racing star Eric van de Poele. In a simulator, guests had the chance to experience the safety benefits of the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system.
eSafety Challenge also participated with an info stand in the exhibition organised in the scope of the CLEPA Technology Day. Visitors had the opportunity to learn about the background and benefits of advanced vehicle safety technologies such as Electronic Stability Control, Lane Support Systems, Blind Spot Monitoring, Warning and Emergency Braking Systems, Speed Alert, and Adaptive Headlights. A video with supporting quotes from some of the world’s leading drivers such as Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, Heikki Kovalainen, Robert Kubica, Timo Glock, Tom Kristensen, and Susie Stoddart was also on show. Two eSafety on Board dummies handed out information material.
Two luxury eSafety Challenge pens in a gift-box signed by Eric van de Poele and Jerome d’Ambrosio will be put out for a prize draw on the eSafety Challenge's Facebook website.
