Each year at the annual eSafety Challenge event, three Excellence prizes are handed out to recognize the excellence on the promotion of the take-up of eSafety systems. In 2010, the prize categories will address three sectors in which eSafety deployment requires particular support:
- eSafety excellence in car sales and marketing campaigning
- eSafety excellence in driving training
- eSafety excellence in fleet management
Nominations can be sent to the eSafetyAware Secretariat. The winners will be selected by an independent panel comprising of a broad range of eSafety stakeholders.
During the first year's eSafety Challenge event which has taken place in Rome on 8 September 2009, three Excellence prizes were handed out by the 'Make Roads Safe' Global Ambassador Michelle Yeoh:
- The eSafety excellence in car sales, rewarding outstanding conduct for promoting intelligent safety systems when selling vehicles. This prize was presented to Auto De Graef GmbH, Fiat car dealer based in Köln, Germany, for its pro-activeness in promoting eSafety and the high level of information of its staff regarding eSafety systems.
- The eSafety excellence in marketing campaigning. Renault Spain was rewarded for its eSafety advertising efforts and for being the first car manufacturer to make ESC standard in the C segment car model in Spain.
- The eSafety excellence in driving training, recognising excellence in promoting awareness and education of users on intelligent vehicle safety systems. This prize was presented to the German Road Safety Council for the great achievements of the "Bester Beifahrer" campaign in informing key target groups about the benefits of car safety technologies.
