Each year at the annual eSafety Challenge event, three Excellence prizes are handed out to recognize the excellence on the promotion of the take-up of eSafety systems. The winners are selected by an independent panel comprising of a broad range of eSafety stakeholders.
2011 In 2011, three prizes were presented for excellence in the fields of Marketing & Sales, Driver Training, and Car Dealership. The prizes were presented by ACEA Secretary General Ivan Hodac, and Global Road Safety Ambassador Michelle Yeoh.
- The Excellence in Marketing & Sales prize went to Swiss insurance firm AXA Winterthur due to their highly visible road safety information campaign, ran by the AXA Foundation of Prevention with the BFU (Council for Accident Prevention), which helped to create awareness of eSafety-related accident prevention technologies.
- The Excellence in Driver Training prize was awarded to ÖAMTC Fahrtechnik Professional Driver Academy because of a proven and significant decrease in accidents (up to 40% sustainable) and fuel consumption (up to 10% sustainable) that could be directly attributed to the training programmes of the competence centre for truck and bus drivers. The programme focuses on the legal mandatory education of professional drivers, as well as the promotion of voluntary education.
- Audi AG was the winner in the Excellence in Car Dealership category after the company trained around 10,000 dealers in the benefits of eSafety technologies during the launch of the new A6. These include Warning and Emergency Braking Systems, Lane Support Systems, Lane Departure Warning, and Blind Spot Monitoring.

2010 In 2010, the prize categories addressed three sectors in which eSafety deployment requires particular support: Marketing & Sales, Driver Training, and Fleet Management. The prizes were presented by ACEA Secretary General Ivan Hodac, and handed out by Le Mans champion and eSafety ambassador, Tom Kristensen; RAI 2 TV presenter Maria Leitner; and Head of Transport, Technology and Standards division at UK DfT, Jill Adam.
- Mercedes Benz took the Marketing & Sales prize for an astute advertising campaign invigorating the eSafety message, and bringing the critical information to the consumer.
- ADAC has received the prize for Driver Training due to their support for the eSafety message included in the ADAC Driver Safety Training since 1998, with customised courses conducted in 54 state of the art safety training facilities throughout Germany.
- To reflect this year's focus on car fleets, the eSafety Excellence prizes included a category for Safety Fleet Management, won by Arval. The company has a clear policy on vehicle choice, with driver training and education, comprehensive information and regular vehicle checks. Their fleet policy makes reversing sensors, ABS and ESC compulsory.
